Castle Aggstein

Description

Fascinating history and breathtaking views

Presumably founded by the Kuenringers at the beginning of the 12th century, the ruins of Aggstein Castle took on their current form a good three centuries later. Its strategically important location once allowed the changing owners to control the busy transit traffic on the Danube.

Today, the boldly positioned, extensive walls are easily accessible by car or via the Way of St. James from Maria Langegg and offer a fantastic view of the entire Wachau region.

Immerse yourself in times long past

Hidden staircases, mysterious courtyards and towers, an eerie dungeon as well as a chapel, an impressive knights' hall and a cozy tavern invite you to immerse yourself in times long past. A tour leads through the entire area, and even the highest walls can be explored via wooden viewing platforms. With exciting audio tours, visitors are transported directly into everyday knightly life and experience medieval life even more intensively.

The Aggstein ruins are an unforgettable experience for medieval fans and adventurers of all ages!

Unique and one-of-a-kind - the live adventure game "The Legends of Aggstein"
